OEE

"We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person"

Hallmark Two

I feel that Hallmark 2 is relevant to me in the OEE activity. It is relevant to me because I believe in equality for each individual. I feel that everyone should treat everyone how they would wanna be treated. For me personally, we respect everyones dignity and sacredness. We should develop and appreciate relationship with other individuals. We should create and encourage positive environments for our community. We should also take the time and effort into getting to know other individuals and support them on their spiritual and personal journey. We should honor and respect where each person comes from, their ethnicity, culture, and values.

Call to Action Day

Call to Action Day- October 11, 2016

Every year on October 11, Notre Dame de Namur University community  has an event called "Call to Action Day." On this day students and faculty come together to help out our community. By participating in this community service event we can reflect on the Hallmarks of Notre Dame de Namur. For my sustainability and development class, we visited a farm called "Potrero Nuevo Farm" in Half Moon Bay. We met the farm owners- Jay and Suzie and their cute dog named "Bear." They are vey nice people, they gave us a tour around the farm. We also helped them pick pumpkins and buttermilk squash. They were very happy we came and very appreciative that we saved them a day of work. After picking the pumpkins and squash we moved them into a greenhouse and for lunch we had delicious mac n' cheese. It was a really cool experience to meet new people and learn new things about sustainability, I enjoyed myself (:
